More Emails...More Worry (Sort of)!

Two new emails today! One good, one worrysome.

Email One:

I emailed the representative who is coming to visit Washington to see if I could meet her, and she said that she will be in the area from 14 - 19 November, (including the 15 November College Fair!) and is available to meet anytime on those days after 4 pm! Woohoo!

Email Two:

Dear Rachael

Thank you for your direct application to the University of St Andrews. We are delighted that you have applied to study with us.

Applicants to MEDICINE should refer to the following link for information:

http://medicine.st-and.ac.uk/prospectus/afterApplication.aspx

What Happens Next

When considering whether or not we can make an offer to an applicant who is currently at school, we review past academic performance as well as qualifications yet to be completed.  In addition, we look closely at your personal statement and recommendation letter from your referee.

For those at university we require details of your final school leaving grades as well as details of courses and grades at university.

In the event that we do still require any additional details for your application, we will notify you in a separate email correspondence. Please do not send any additional information unless we have requested it.

Fee Status

As places for students are limited, the university does not make decisions on applications until we have confirmed tuition fee status, either Home/EU or Overseas/International. For EU applicants who have spent long periods living outside the EU and International applicants living within the EU we may contact you and ask for more details of your residence status.  If you are unsure whether you are entitled to pay fees at the Home/EU rate, you can find guidance notes under 'fees and funding' on the UKCISA website:

http://www.ukcisa.org.uk/ and obtain a Fee Status Enquiry Form at http://www.st-andrews.ac.uk/admissions/ug/Financialinformation/Feestatus/

For those who have not done so already, we encourage you to visit St Andrews before making your final decision of where to study.  Information on our scheduled Visiting Days can be found at:

http://www.st-andrews.ac.uk/admissions/VisitingtheUniversity/

Alternatively if you cannot attend one of our visiting days but would still like to visit please email international@st-andrews.ac.uk

Kind Regards

Confirmation Email Confirmed!!

I got the email! Relieeeffffff! It came into my school email inbox at 4:59 am, or 11:59 am Scotland time. Here is the email:

Dear Rachael

Thank you for your email.

We will process your application very soon.  We actually don’t mind if your school sends your details to us by scan if they wish.  However, we are happy to receive them by mail instead if that isn’t possible.

If you have any queries about your application, please contact us again.

Kind regards

Robbie Fleming

Now I'm just worried about what "very soon" means. One week, two, a month?? Aaah! The ambiguity! Also, they are so cute. Hehehe..."queries".

Now I can sleep well, counting the sheep frolicking in the wonderful fields of St. Andrews.

A Different Confirmation Email...

Not the one that I desperately need right now, but good news none-the-less.

Hansen just sent me an email saying that he got all of the stuff sent off to St. Andrews!

Woo! This means that everything is now complete!

Hopefully this will expedite the confirmation e-mail, and ease my worries.

Right, back to homework and neurotically checking my inbox...

Confirmation Email?

Ummm...soooo... I was expecting a confirmation email from the St. Andrew's admissions people saying that they got my application...and I HAVEN'T GOTTEN IT YET. I'm freaking out for several reasons, here's a list:

1. What if they didn't get the email?
2. What if they saw the three copies I sent them, and just deleted all three (based on their strict no-copies policy) and aren't even considering my application?
3. What if they just assumed that I'm an annoying person that they don't want to admit because they saw the three copies of my application and the apology email explaining the three copies error?
4. What if they're not looking at applications until the official due date May 1?
5. What if they can't be bothered to send me a confirmation email? How am I supposed to know that it made it there safe & sound?

THIS IS TOO STRESSFUL.

I really hope to hear from them tomorrow, otherwise I will be worrying even more, which is quite the feat at this point.

This also means that my expected accepted/denied announcement day is now November 30, not November 29.

The Application

Today, October 30, 2010, marks the beginning of, hopefully, my St. Andrew's career. Today, I submitted my application to the University of St. Andrew's. I still have to make sure that my transcript and recommendations get there, but my end of the deal is complete! Phew! Now...the waiting. 4 weeks (approx.) until my ultimate fate is decided. I hope I get in!!! If I don't, then this blog goes away, and I will crawl into a hole and cry for quite some time.
